Troy 3 Years Old

There are musicians, there are performers, and then there are Entertainers. That’s how to best describe Troy! From the age of 7 years old, Troy has loved being on stage. His affinity for music was apparent from an early age where he was always found humming and singing. Troy’s mom enrolled him in a group called "Terry Tots", where his passion for the stage was born. He was introduced to popular music through song and dance. Here he had the opportunity to record as well as perform. At the age of ten Troy was performing all over the valley and was asked to do the pre-show for Charlie McClain at the Utah State Fair. This performing group carried him into his teens where he then found himself auditioning for a traveling show group under the direction of Kim Clayton. Here Troy developed a finer understanding of art and greatly developed his talents. He performed locally and then toured several states as well as international exchanges through "Friendship Ambassadors" touring all the way through Eastern Europe.

At the age of 17 Troy auditioned for Music USA, a high energy music review show at Lagoon, an amusement park in Utah. He performed there four years and built an amazing repertoire of popular songs spanning 6 decades. During high school, Troy got involved in musical theater and loved to perform in musicals. Some of his roles included The Minstrel in “Once upon a Mattress”, a eunuch in “Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum”, Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls”, The Pirate King in “The Pirates of Penzance” and Archibald Craven in “The Secret Garden”. One of Troy’s favorite outlets was his cover band “The Cat’s Pajama’s” they performed 2 years and played for all the high school dances as well as some weddings and other parties.

Troy attended the University of Utah where he studied vocal performance under the care of Dr. David Power. Here he tuned his ear for music and most importantly gained an understanding of music composition and theory. Now all of the piano lessons and percussion classes were put to use in understanding counterpoint, chord progressions and cadences. Troy continued to perform with friends he had met along the way and eventually got involved in corporate entertainment. Here he performed with groups opening for the Beach Boys, Big Bad Voodoo and Daddy, Rock-a-pella, and 3 Dog Night.

Troy Piano

It was at one of these corporate shows in San Antonio Texas where Troy saw his first Dueling Pianos. After the encounter he went home only to find that no such show existed in Utah. Fortunately not more then 6 months went by and two clubs opened up featuring Dueling Pianos. Troy took the venue closest to his home in Kaysville and opened up Martunee’s a dueling piano show in Clearfield Utah. After two years in Clearfield Troy jumped into the cast of piano players at the Tavernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah where he has been rocking to the all request mayhem every week. Troy still loves the stage and comes to life every time a microphone is put in his hand or the spotlight hits him.
